Patti McDonnell, Consultant

Patti started her career in the DME industry in June of 1988 as a Reimbursement Specialist with the former Abbey Medical.  In 1991 she joined Metro Rehab Services in Chicago as a billing specialist and shortly thereafter returned to Abbey Medical as a Field Services Coordinator. She then took on a new position as Medicaid Reimbursement Supervisor, where she was responsible for training both Medicaid billers and collectors, as well as overseeing the entire Medicaid Department.

In 1993, Patti moved into the Abbey Rehab division and remained there after Abbey and Homedco merged to form Apria Healthcare. She became the Billing Center Manager for Apria Healthcare Rehab Division, with responsibility for the reimbursement of 30+ Rehab locations throughout the entire United States. Here, she developed and implemented a Medicare pre-screen process for all complex rehab equipment. She also worked closely with the Apria Government Compliance Department and contracted payers to ensure clean claims and prompt payment.

Patti joined The Orion Group in July of 2003 where she now holds the position of Consultant.

Patti resides in Bolingbrook, IL with her husband Kevin and two beautiful children, Elizabeth and Matthew. In her spare time, she teaches swim lessons and leads her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop.
